Polo Madnessss

I've hit a phase in my life where polos are now my utter obsession.

I only have two pairs at the moment that i've come close to pretty much never using, but the other day I said "What the hey? Why not put them to use?"

So the crazy tangent on the search for fantastic new polo wraps has begun! I've got me eye on a pair of wild and crazy tye-dye wraps that would bring out Jack's coloring....if you can't tell that's my excuse for my "need" of them.

QUESTION!

Have you ever been obsessed with on particular equine-related thing at a time in your life?

Weather is Weird

Weather aggravates me.

Not even kidding.

I can barely depend on either one weather service station or another, and have lately been constantly relying on the Internet weather station to give me a reliable source so I can RIDE!

Today was a very good day overall, though, despite the grotesque, rolling clouds that could have poured out rain in the middle of my rides. It warmed up so dramatically down here that I went from about four layers on Sunday to a light T-shirt today!

Naturally, the horses have begun to shed their fluffy and everlasting winter coats-except for the body clipped and velvety "men"-leaving me with more fluffballs of horse hair on my whole body than I have hair on my head.

It's all for the horses though! Don't we know it, spending every waking moment with them. Rain or shine, snow or hail, blah blah blah. Pretty much every weather situation suits how loving we horse-fanatics are. ;)

A good friend of mine that I ride with brought her camera with her, and since the arena's were much too soggy and flooded to even think of stepping in, we hacked around the farm, and she sent these wonderful photos to me. You can always enjoy a day-after-rainy day! Enjoy!

Dedication (The Newfound Virtue?)

I know of many a rider who very competitively shows, and a select few have chosen to dedicate this year's special show season to a certain person, point in their life, or something in general that means a great deal to them.

So I began to think: Why not give my show season something amazing to be dedicated to?

I had been thinking about this dedication before I even knew peer riders had the same idea as well.

Time to put the plan into action!

My dedication for the 2010 show season:

I should really make it a bumper sticker to put on our car, but I'm not that over the edge. ;)

These people deserve an honor like that more than anything, in my opinion. They have been there for me through thick and thin, helped me in my time-more like times-of need, and have just been wonderful to me and my riding career in general.

From my wonderful and caring father-even though he was not so obsessed as me with horses-who had been there at my shows and has been acquainted with all my fellow horsemen. He made me look at reality and realize my goals in life, equine or not. He has forever been the best father anyone could ask for, and I hope he knows it!

The UTTERLY AMAZING 4-H Club that I had been-and still have been, whether I live there or not!- involved with over 4 years. They taught me so much more than I thought possible, and guided me to become a member of such a loving and knowledgeable community of horsemen/horsewomen.

And my generous, spontaneous friends outside of my larger than life horse bubble. They supported my equine obsession for years on end and never let me give up on my dreams, or let the possible become impossible.

All of these people are family to me, blood-related or whatever they may really be to me. The dedication I am making to them of my show season means more to me than I think it means to them, and it will remain that way, hahahaa!

So here's to success. To failure.

To happiness. To sorrow.

And to dreams. To LIFE.

Ringing in the New Year...with Alfalfa of Course!

As we all sit in our cozy homes, sleeping or eating our first breakfast of the New Year, I will most likely be trekking my way to my equine with an extra helping of carrots and such.

Starting out the New Year right is everybody's need, no matter the situation. We have hopefully all made several good, worth-the-effort resolutions as well!

My question every year, however, is if our pals pick-up on our "fresh start" vibes and make a few resolutions themselves:

1. Eat more hay to keep my fat little belly fat and full.

2. Be just a little less pleasant to mom.

3. Start small talk with the girls in the other pasture a little more often.

4. Just eat more overall. Good enough for me!

Seems as if Jack is willing to put some effort into his goals this year!
